Abstract

Protecting the rights of consumers is one of the values and norms of human societies, which is supported by the legislators of different countries. The question raised in this article is the role of international and regional organizations in the promotion and upgradation of consumer rights. In response, the function of transnational organizations can be divided into two sub-groups, international organizations, and regional ones, each of which can refer to the document approved regarding consumer rights, prepare hard (enforceable) legal documents, or soft (advisory) legal documents.
United Nations guidelines based on the seven fundamental principles of consumer rights systems include; supporting the health and safety of consumers, and their economic interests, providing sufficient information to consumers, educating consumers, giving consumers access to adequate compensation tools, creating consumer associations, and consumer participation in the process of decision-making and sustainable consumption, and the European Union among the consumer institutions has created the most advanced monitoring system for consumer protection at the global level so far.
