Over the past 20 years, online markets have grown into a powerful, innovative, and highly successful industry. Meanwhile, the trade in counterfeit goods has also surged. This issue has seen significant growth since 1980, impacting not only intellectual property owners but also posing serious risks to consumers, from financial losses to physical safety. Legislators have therefore implemented various criminal and civil measures to protect intellectual property owners. However, in addition to such punitive and corrective measures, preventive strategies are logically essential. This study seeks to answer several questions: What conventional and innovative methods and policies are adopted by countries and, consequently, by online markets to combat the spread of counterfeit goods? Do domestic online markets comply with the global standards of other online markets in counteracting counterfeit goods, and to what extent are these standards and countermeasures effective? Employing a theoretical and applied approach with a descriptive-analytical method based on library data and technical evidence, this research aims to assess the compliance and effectiveness of anti-counterfeit policies and practices within the industry. By analyzing website data and examining documentation, this study provides quantitative insights into policies and practices to combat counterfeit goods.
