Cryptocurrencies are at the forefront of the economic and financial development of the world today. This has created many opportunities and threats in the financial markets around the world and has attracted the attention of a significant number of citizens and economic activists in recent years.Accordingly, the number of actors involved in cryptocurrency trading has increased significantly in recent years, the most important of which are governments. Due to the number of potential benefits of digital currencies in international trade, there are also several challenges that must be taken into account, one of the most important of these challenges is the monetary governance of governments. In this article, which is done in an analytical-descriptive way, the main question is: From the perspective of international law, how have cryptocurrencies affected the monetary governance of governments? The results of the research show: Cryptocurrencies are traded in a decentralized manner and no government plays a direct role in their creation, valuation and distribution, thus cryptocurrencies have the exclusive sovereignty of governments over the amount of money in circulation, its valuation. and the limitation of the storage criteria and the basis of the value of commercial exchanges have been limited, and the governments, according to their economic policies, adopt approaches based on prohibition, regulatory and risk-oriented approaches.
