Today, the construction contracts play an important role in the economy of the countries; therefore, the effectiveness and termination of these contracts are of great importance. In Iran, the contract template approved in terms of Article 23 of the Program and Budget Law is the General Conditions of Contract. The General Conditions of Contract is a local governmental contract in which the government is considered as the employer. Most of the contracts in Iran's law are concluded by the government; however, the private parties who are not affiliated with the government and whose budget is not supplied by the government are yet inclined to benefit from these types of contracts.
This research compares thearticles o General Conditions of Contract with the template of FIDIC contracts (Fédération Internationale des Ingénieurs-Conseils) as the template of international contracts in terms of Articels of termination.The conditions of termination in the General Conditions of Contract and FIDIC contracts have some similarities and differences. A comparative study provides an appropriate platform for interpretation of the contract and its effectiveness.
